Copy the old battery: capacity and count

Forage harvesters have engines of 300 hp and more, and many run on two batteries. The safest guide is the label on the battery you are replacing: buy the same capacity (Ah) and box size, and replace both batteries together if the machine has two, so they charge evenly.

Look after it between seasons

  • A forage harvester stands unused most of the year, and that, more than work, is what ruins its batteries. Disconnect them, or charge them once a month while the machine stands.
  • Before the season, charge them fully and check the water level (unless they are sealed).
  • Keep chopped crop and dust off the batteries and terminals: they hold moisture and drain the battery.
